Progress Update, Week of October 4, 2021

During the week of October 4 the Gowanus Remediation Team continued removing sediment near the Union Street Bridge. Sediment is being removed using a vacuum truck staged on the deck of the bridge.

GRT workers continued removing an obsolete cofferdam structure located in the canal near Douglass Street. This structure is being removed using a crane staged upland on Douglass Street. There is a partial road closure in place at the end of Douglass Street near the bulkhead that extends for 75 feet west toward Bond Street. While the closure is in place the roadway and sidewalks within the work zone will be inaccessible to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
